Announcements

We would like to announce the 2025 Giovanni Folcarelli Memorial Scholarship Winners

Federal money for programs and services that help millions of vulnerable Americans and employ many AFSCME members could be in jeopardy next year.

On Wednesday, September 20, 2023, the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery held a ribbon cutting ceremony for the brand new Indigenous Veterans Memorial. Charles “Snow Bear” Smith, Jr.

Brothers & Sisters,

At our March meeting, Local 528 asked for donations from the members that were in attendance. I am pleased to say that we were able to raise $158.00 that day for The Ronald McDonald House of Providence. Based on the Wish List posted on the Ronald McDonald House website, we were able to purchase 8 sets of full-sized sheets for the rooms of families that stay at the house to be close to their children while they are hospitalized or receiving treatments.

Brothers & Sisters,

On October 9, 2021, Local 528 had the honor of handing out $3,000 worth of scholarships to Local 528 members in support of their children who are attending Colleges and Universities in furtherance of their education.

$500 was awarded to John Maher on behalf of his daughter

$500 was awarded to Jen Fogarty on behalf of her son

$500 was awarded to Salina Lavoie on behalf of her son

$500 was awarded to Ed Berube on behalf of his daughter

$500 was awarded to Frank Favino on behalf of his daughter

In our efforts to make this year better for those who are struggling to make ends meet we are asking for help with some items that are high on the Fall/Winter need list at the Jonnycake Center.
