In loving memory of our brothers and sisters that we have lost, both past and present.

Brothers and Sisters,

It is with great sadness that I inform you of the tragic death of President Dan Pereira “Danny Boy” of Local 1010, Narragansett Bay Commission. Dan was a very kind man, husband to Helen and father to Zachary and Alexandra. He was the President of Local 1010 and a skilled process monitor for the Narragansett Bay Commission for many years and fought endlessly for his Union brothers and sisters. Dan also fought fiercely for our country as a Marine.

It is with great sadness that I regret to inform you of the passing of Brother Gene Pearson who passed away unexpectedly on June 18th.

Brother Pearson was a dedicated, hardworking union member of local 3125, South Kingstown Schools, RI Council 94, AFSCME.

Gene Pearson worked in South Kingstown School Department for five years. Mr. Pearson honorably served in the United States Coast Guard and enjoyed playing guitar in his spare time.

He will be sorely missed by everyone.

It is with great sadness that I regret to inform you of the passing of Ms. Bernadette M. Barr on June 11, 2019.  Bernadette was the mother of Jody Barr, AFCSME International Vice President and Executive Director, Council 4 AFSCME. 

His mother, Ms. Barr, enjoyed spending time at the beach, reading and making memories.   

We extend our sympathy to Jody and his family.

VISITATION HOURS will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2019 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm with a prayer service at 6:30 pm, at Leffler Funeral Home 30 North Main Street, Jewett City, CT.

It is with great sadness that I regret to inform you of the passing of Mr. James “Jim” P. Ricci on May 17, 2019.

Jim was the father of Tiffany Ricci, staff member of our International Union, AFSCME. Tiffany has attended our conventions, has worked with Council 94 members at the international convention and has collaborated with us on communications to our members.

It is with great sadness that I regret to inform you of the passing of Brother Albert A. Scappaticci who passed on April 23, 2019.

Brother Scappaticci was a dedicated, hardworking state worker for over 30 years retiring as the Director of Emergency Management. Upon retirement Brother Scappaticci became a member of AFSCME, RI Retirees Chapter 94 Union in 2008.

He will be sorely missed by everyone.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Holy Apostles Church.

It is with great sadness that I regret to inform you of the passing of Sister Joann Gobin (Scolavino), 72 who passed Sunday, April 21, 2019.

Sister Joann was a dedicated, hardworking, union member of RI Council 94, Town of West Warwick, Local 2045, before retiring in 2006. Upon retiring, she became a member of AFSCME Rhode Island Retirees Chapter 94.

Joann worked as a Finance Clerk for 21 years.

She will be sorely missed by everyone.

It is with great sadness that I regret to inform you of the passing of Brother William Guise, 33 who passed on Friday, March 29, 2019.

Brother Guise was a dedicated, hardworking union member of Pawtucket School Department, RI Council 94, AFSCME.

William worked as a teacher’s aide for the past 9 years.
He will be sorely missed by everyone.

It is with great sadness that we regret to inform you of the passing of Sister Donna Lamb, 53 who passed on Monday, February 25, 2019.

Sister Lamb was a dedicated, hardworking union member of Chartwells (formerly Aramark), RI Council 94, AFSCME for approximately two years.

Donna worked as a head cook at Lincoln Public Schools. She will be sorely missed by everyone.
