It is with great sadness that I regret to inform you of the passing of Claire P. Lataille, 78, who passed on February 6, 2020. Claire was the mother of Robert Doire, President Local 3851. Claire was employed as a nurse’s aide at The Friendly Home for over 30 years before retiring.

She will be sorely missed by everyone.

It is with great sadness that I regret to inform you of the passing of Brother Albert J. Travison, 67, who passed on January 27, 2020.

Brother Albert was a dedicated, hardworking union member of RI Council 94, University of Rhode Island, Local 528, for 22 years before retiring in 2018. Prior to that Brother Albert also served as sergeant of arms and steward at the Medical Center, Local 1350.

He will be sorely missed by everyone.

It is with great sadness that I regret to inform you of the passing of Brother William Menard, Sr. who passed on January 31, 2020.

Brother Menard was a dedicated and hardworking member of Local 2409, Deputy Sheriffs for 25 years. After his retirement he joined the Rhode Island Retired Deputy Sheriffs Association where he was the Vice President. Mr. Menard was also a member of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick.

Mr. Menard will be sorely missed by everyone.

It is with great sadness that I regret to inform you of the passing of Mr. Eulogio Acevedo, 70, who passed on Sunday, January 19, 2020.

It is with great sadness that I regret to inform you of the passing of Janice Mae (Berube) Cranshaw 80, who passed on Monday, December 16, 2019. Janice was the aunt of Lexi Lyman Sr. Staff Representative for RI Council 94. Janice enjoyed time spent with her family on vacations to Disney in Florida, New Hampshire and hosting Grandma and Grampa summer camp at Waterman Lake.

She will be sorely missed by everyone. We extend our sympathies to Lexi and her family.

It is with great sadness that I regret to inform you of the passing of Mr. Robert J. Knox, 88, who passed on Monday, December 2, 2019. Robert was the father of Mary Townsend, Municipal Vice President for RI Council 94, AFSCME and President of Local 357, Warwick Independent School Employees. Robert was a Korean War Veteran, serving in both the Army and the Navy.

He will be sorely missed by everyone.

It is with great sadness that President Downey and I regret to inform you of the passing of Cindy Leblanc’s father, Arthur Cunha. Mr. Cunha passed on November 20, 2019. Mr. Cunha proudly served our country in the Korean War and worked as the Director of Zoning for the City of Warwick until his retirement.

It is with great sadness that I regret to inform you of the passing of Brother James “Jim” Gillis who passed on November 11, 2019.

Brother Gillis was a dedicated and hardworking union member of the Department of Human Services for 28 years as a Supervising Eligibility Technician before retiring in 1999. Upon retirement, Jim joined Chapter 94 Retirees union where he was former President and the current Vice President providing services for the retirees for over 15 years.
