Brothers and Sisters,

It is with great sadness that I regret to inform you of the passing of Mr. Robert J. Knox, 88, who passed on Monday, December 2, 2019. Robert was the father of Mary Townsend, Municipal Vice President for RI Council 94, AFSCME and President of Local 357, Warwick Independent School Employees. Robert was a Korean War Veteran, serving in both the Army and the Navy.

He will be sorely missed by everyone.

We extend our sympathies to Mary and her family.

It is with great sadness that President Downey and I regret to inform you of the passing of Cindy Leblanc’s father, Arthur Cunha. Mr. Cunha passed on November 20, 2019. Mr. Cunha proudly served our country in the Korean War and worked as the Director of Zoning for the City of Warwick until his retirement.

It is with great sadness that I regret to inform you of the passing of Brother James “Jim” Gillis who passed on November 11, 2019.

Brother Gillis was a dedicated and hardworking union member of the Department of Human Services for 28 years as a Supervising Eligibility Technician before retiring in 1999. Upon retirement, Jim joined Chapter 94 Retirees union where he was former President and the current Vice President providing services for the retirees for over 15 years.

It is with great sadness that I inform you of the passing of Ms. Gwendolyn, “Wendy” Iadevaia, 76, who passed on November 11, 2019. Gwendolyn was the mother of Geoffrey W. Weston, Vice President for Local 2409, Deputy Sheriffs.

We extend our sympathy to Geoffrey and his family.

It is with great sadness that I regret to inform you of the passing of Mr. Joseph V. Riccardi, Sr., father of Joseph Riccardi, Jr., of Local 1491-1, Town of North Providence, Department of Public Works.
 
Joseph Sr. served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Joseph loved spending time with his family.

It is with great sadness that I regret to inform you of the passing of Brother John Silva, Jr. who passed on October 29, 2019.

Brother Silva was a dedicated and hardworking union member of Local 528, University of Rhode Island, RI Council 94, AFSCME.

John worked in in Facilities and Repair Department for almost twenty years.

He will be sorely missed by everyone.

It is with great sadness that I regret to inform you of the passing of Mrs. Jane E. (Cardin) Cenerini on October 21, 2019. Jane was the mother of Jim Cenerini, Senior Staff Representative with RI Council 94, AFSCME.

Jane was a psychiatric nurse with Taunton State Hospital, a Charge nurse with Butler Hospital, the Director of the Warwick Boys and Girls Club, and a mentor with the Warwick Public Schools. Jane also served as a Docent at the John Brown House Museum and Nightingale House where she refined her interest in antiques.

It is with great sadness that I regret to inform you of the passing of Sister Nancy Ricci, 56, who passed on Thursday, September 12, 2019.

Sister Ricci was a dedicated and hardworking union member of RI Council 94, AFSCME, Warwick Independent School Employees, Local 357.

Nancy worked as a secretary in the Warwick School Department.

Nancy will be sorely missed by everyone.
